Donald L. Roarabaugh, 83, of Black Lick, PA formerly of Williamsburg, PA passed away March 30, 2004 at his home after an extended illness.A son of John and Elizabeth Lane Roarabaugh, he was born August 27, 1920 at Six Mile Run, Bedford Co., PA.Mr. Roarabaugh attended the Black Lick United Methodist Church. He was a member of Jaffa Shrine of Altoona, PA, Scottish Rites, Portage Lodge #220 F&AM, National AARP, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1989 of Indiana, PA and the Williamsburg American Legion Post #456 where he was a past post commander.He graduated from Williamsburg High School, Class of 1939. After graduating he joined the National CC Camp, then joined the National Guard. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army during WW II for five and a half years in the African and European theaters as a radio man in the infantry division.Mr. Roarabaugh started to work at the Williamsburg Penelec Station and was later transferred to Homer City Generating Station, where he was supervisor of maintenance, retiring in 1984 after 34 years of service.He enjoyed all sports, his hobbies were hunting, fishing and making wine and he enjoyed good music, especially "The Lawrence Welk Show."Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Betty J. Brenneman Roarabaugh whom he married June 22, 1953; a brother, Clair Roarabaugh and his wife, Catherine of Martinsburg, PA and a sister, Marjorie Ketner and her husband, John of Lehigh Acres, FL.He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harold, Melvin, James, Robert and Richard; and three sisters, Margaret Wert, Alice Mangus and Audrey Roarabaugh.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. The family will also receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8:30 P.M. at the Bolger-Friedline Funeral Home, 424 W. 2nd St., Williamsburg, PA. where services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jason L. McQueen officiating.Interment with military services will be in the Shellytown Fairview Cemetery, Williamsburg, PA.
