George Ivan Kuhns, 89, of Blairsville, PA (Burrell Twp.) died on Thursday, February 12, 2004 in the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.A son of Howard W. and Mary E. Slater Kuhns, he was born July 30, 1914 in Sharpsburg, PA.Mr. Kuhns was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of the Deaf, Wilkinsburg, PA.He worked for FMC, Homer City, PA for 20 years, retiring in 1976.Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Anna Strojan Kuhns to whom he married March 3, 1941; a son, Marvin Kuhns and his wife, Carol, of Blairsville, PA; a daughter, Mary Ann Kuhns, of Blairsville, PA; two granddaughters, Andrea Kuhns and her fiancée, Doug Odre and Janna Kuhns; and a sister, Margaret Cribbs, of Blairsville, PAHe was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Kuhns.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Services will be held on Sunday at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Ruppert officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of the Deaf, Wilkinsburg, PA.
