Donald C. Shearer, 80, of R.D.#3,Blairsville, PA (Brenizer) died on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at his home.A son of Milford and Leona Neudofer Shearer, he was born July 8, 1923 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Shearer lived his entire life in the Blairsville and Brenizer area. He was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA; Latrobe American Legion and the Latrobe Steel Retirees Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, softball and working in his garden growing vegetables and flowers.Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed by Latrobe Steel for 32 years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II having served in the 86th Blackhawk Division during the European and Pacific theaters. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Regina Shearer whom he married July 19, 1945 and a son, Donald Shearer and his wife, Lori of Blairsville, PA; a sister, Dorothy Dablock and her husband, Bill of Blairsville, PA and a brother William Shearer of Ocala, FloridaHe was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russ Shearer and Willard Shearer.The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Wake service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
