Alex Anton Tamsula, 96, of Blairsville, PA (Burrell Twp.) passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at home.

The son of Anthony Tamsula, Sr. and Elizabeth (Yahas) Tamsula, he was born on February 18, 1928, in Vintondale, PA. At a young age his family moved to West Homestead, where he was always finding work; at a bakery, in a bowling alley, on the B.&O. Railroad, or delivering coal, to name a few.

Alex enlisted in the Army in 1946, a month before his 18th birthday, and served 3 ½ years. In 1950 he began working for General Motors at the Fisher Body Division in McKeesport. He married Pauline (Rohaly) Tamsula in 1953 and started their family. In 1962, they moved to a farm in Blairsville where he divided his time between caring for his animals, gardening, raising his family, building a house, and commuting to work. At age 52, Alex retired after 30 years with GM, to which he then continued to find odd jobs, and spending all his time where he loved to be; outdoors, executing improvement projects on his farm assisted by his sons, and maintaining it until he died.

Surviving are his two sons, Alex J. Tamsula and Mark A. Tamsula (Barbara Rosner); sister-in-law Evelyn Tamsula and sister-in-law Jean Rohaly; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pauline (Rohaly) Tamsula; sisters Betty Orosz, Mary Beegle, and Helen Hellet; and brothers Anthony, Louis and George Tamsula.

Per Alex’s wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be planned at a future date at the convenience of the family.

Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
