Alfred Leroy King, 84, of Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.
He was a son of Raymond King and Mabel F. (Oaks) Palmer. He was born in Blairsville, PA on August 21, 1935.
Alfred was a Psychiatric Aide at Torrance State Hospital for 41 years until his retirement in 2000.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Blairsville where he served as the custodian for many years. He was deeply devoted to his granddaughter, Becky.
Alfred was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Irma (Deemer) King whom he married July 5, 1957; a son, Carl L. King (fiancée Debra Manzanilla) of Homer City; a daughter-in-law, Lynn King of Pasadena, MD; grandchildren, Angela Dembinski, Heather Bois, Andrew King, Matthew King and Becky King; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Allen King; a daughter, Bonnie Ivy; a half-brother, Clair Palmer; and half-sisters, Marie Saliga and Sara Palmer
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, in the funeral home with Rev. Russell Whitfield officiating.
Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery.
Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and American Legion Post #0407.
