Analene Carol Smathers

Analene Carol (Rodgers) Smathers, 75, of Indiana, PA passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, in Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.

The daughter of Henry and Virginia (Starry) Rodgers, she was born March 5, 1948, in Latrobe, PA. Analene devoted her life to raising her five children. She owned and operated Carol’s Beauty Salon in Strongstown until her retirement and was a member of Grace Church in Indiana. She loved to help friends, crochet, play bingo, read, needlepoint, bake, but spending time with her family was the most important part of her life.

Surviving are her five children, Linda C. Sokol (John) of Homer City, David Smathers (Tammy) of Indiana, Brenda Fry (Craig, III) of Armagh, Jeffrey Smathers (Dana) of Indiana, Jason Smathers (Melissa) of Indiana; 13 grandchildren, John Jr., Samantha, Tiffany, Sarah, Lindsey, Haley, Carly, Craig IV., Breanna, Lexi, Payton, Hunter, and Olivia; eight great grandchildren; four siblings, Donna Clawson of East Palestine, OH, Margaret Hoover of Indiana, Virginia Bailey (Dave) of Donalsonville, GA, and Stephen Rodgers (Donna) of Latrobe; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion and best friend, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 5 – 6:30 PM at the Robinson Lytle Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N. 7th St., Indiana where a funeral service will be held at 6:30 PM with Pastor William Blair officiating. The family is requesting donations to be made to Four Footed Friends 220 Beck Road, Indiana, PA 15701 in lieu of flowers.
