Ann Lezanic

December 1, 1941 — January 2, 2024

Ann Lezanic, 82, of Indiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at the Communities of Indian Haven.

A daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Berezansky) Flanjack, Ann was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Dixonville. She was a 1959 graduate of Indiana High School and Seton Hill College with an early childhood certificate. She was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, Junior Women’s Civic Club, Indiana County Housing Authority, ICAP, Head Start, Chevy Chase Community Center, Children & Youth Advisory Board and Red Cross volunteer. On November 5, 1982, Ann and her husband, Ron, founded the 9 th Street Deli which they operated for over 20 years. She was nominated as a 2024 inductee in the Indiana County Business Hall of Fame. Ann loved her family and enjoyed cooking, baking, helping the underprivileged and those in need and she was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Most of all she loved her family and her community.

Mrs. Lezanic is survived by her children: Kimberly Dodds and husband Kevin, of Indiana; Mark Lezanic, of Philadelphia; six grandchildren: Michael Dodds, Melissa Dodds, Katy Dodds Brown and husband Phillip, Leah Lezanic, M.J. Lezanic, Zach Lezanic; a great- grandson, Phillip N. Brown IV; three siblings: George Flanjack and wife Mary, of FL; Evelyn Fister and husband Al, of Indiana; Helen Huff, of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her foster parents, George and Dorothy Merrill; her husband, Ronald G. Lezanic; four siblings: Michael Flanjack, Joseph Flanjack, Nick Flanjack and Mary Wahna.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Narthex at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Paul Dressler as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff of 365 Hospice and Communities at Indian Haven for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Indiana Free Library or the Jimmy Stewart Museum.
