Anna A. Knarr

Anna Alberta Knarr, 102, of Blairsville, PA passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

The daughter of Peter and Mary (Dehaven) Knarr, she was born on February 17, 1921, in Bell Township, Clearfield County.

Anna was the youngest of nine children.  During WW II, she traveled daily from Clymer to Latrobe to work in a defense plant where she made detonators for Navy weapons.  After the war, she worked for GC Murphy’s in Indiana for 37 years until retiring to Blairsville from Diamondville to live with her daughter.  While living in Blairsville during her 80’s and in her spare time, she was a hostess at the Blairsville McDonald’s.

She loved spending time with her family and watching Golden Girls TV show.  Anna was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Surviving is her daughter, Violet Bolen of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Bolen of Houston, TX, Barbara (Bill) Wagner of Indiana, Michael (Darlene) Bolen of Clarksburg, and Lisa (Michael) Rodia of Blairsville; eight great grandchildren, Amanda Wagner, Emily Wagner, Mark Wagner, Hannah (Sean) Hansen, Seth (Alecca) Bolen, Joshua Bolen, Brandon Hoffer, and Alexis Hoffer; one great-great grandchild, Bennett Hansen; and two nieces, Loretta Vasbinder of Masery, OH, and Jean Wholaver of St. Benedict.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Robert Bolen, and siblings, Amelia States, Mae McClinsey, Edna Knarr, Allen Knarr, Emery Knarr, Lynn Knarr, Amanda McClinsey, Catherine Knarr, eight nieces, and four nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday December 22, 2023, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM with Lori Parks officiating.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
