Barbara F. Bender

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, Barbara Foye Bender, 77 of Blairsville, PA peacefully passed away.

Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends and loved taking care of everyone.

Barbara was born in Indiana, PA to Melvin and Irene Foye on January 16, 1947. Barbara graduated from Laura Lamar High School, Homer City, PA and then Presbyterian Hospital - School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA. She dedicated her life to working as a registered nurse and passionately taking care and advocating for her patients. Barbara also enjoyed many hobbies including photography, gardening, baking, and crafting. Hosting her family at Thanksgiving was her favorite time of the year!

Survived by her two daughters Melissa Fezer (Richard) of Cary, NC and Amanda Brunetto (Lance) of Greensburg, PA, Barbara joyously celebrated her 5 grandchildren: Jillian Fezer (22), Jenna Fezer (19), Jordan Fezer (19), Aiden Brunetto (19) and Corinne Brunetto (17).

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband of 53 years, James (Jimbo) Bender. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Helen Nymick of Homer City, PA, and Sylvia Bender of Bridgeville, PA; as well as her Brother-in-law, Kenneth Bender (Mary) of Indiana, PA. Barbara was also adored by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There is no public viewing or funeral mass planned. A celebration of Barbara’s life is being scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, (4900 Tuttle Crossing Blvd., Dublin, OH 43016, 1-800-ASK-DTFA).

Barbara was dearly loved by so many and will be remembered for her compassion and for always taking care of others.
