Betty Jane Kostella

February 22, 1941 — July 9, 2021

Betty Jane (Bork) Kostella, 80, of Indiana, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at the home of her daughter.

The daughter of the late William A Bork and the late Irene (Anderson) Yosurack, she was born Feb. 22, 1941 in Indiana.

In her early years, Betty attended the Church of the Nazarene in Homer City with her grandparents, Arthur and Sara Balls Anderson. In her free time, she enjoyed visiting with friends, going on long rides, gardening her flowers, attending her grandchildren’s ballgames, and having amazing family dinners. She loved being with family and listening to their many hunting stories including how she shot her own very impressive 12-point buck. She also enjoyed spending time at the family’s camps near Sinnemahoning and along Blue Jay Creek in Forest County. She always had something cooking on the stove and hot coffee waiting whenever anyone stopped by. Betty was a friend to everyone she met. She always had a kind word to say and made everyone feel loved. Betty’s favorite time of year was Christmas. Her house was beautifully and whimsically decorated from the perfect Christmas tree, to the tinsel on the deer antlers, Betty knew how to do Christmas! Her delicious turkey dinners would rival the best cooks around. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always, without a doubt, put family first.

Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, James C. Kostella; four children Deborah States of Indiana, Calvin Kostella and wife Lori of Creekside, Kenneth Kostella of Sagamore, and Douglas Kostella and wife Cathy of Indiana; three grandchildren, Courtney Kostella, Jessica Kostella and fiancé Coltin Ireland, and Bonnie Kostella; and four great-grandchildren Jasmine States, Alexis States, Xander States, and Adam States.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by infant son James Calvin, Jr.; a grandson, David James States; three siblings, Wanda Crittenden, Andrew Yosurack, Jr., and Dennis Yosurack; and a son-in-law Robert States.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home (36 N. 7th Street, Indiana). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Elder Stanford Webb, Jr. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
