Burton J. Adiska

Rev. Burton J. Adiska, 88, of Towanda, PA, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the home of his son, David.

The son of Harold J. and Maxine N. (Young) Adiska, he was born February 18, 1935, in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Rev. Adiska was raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1954. He went directly to God’s Bible School & College where he obtained his Bachelors degree in Theology in 1958. Within his time at college, Rev. Adiska obtained the title of The Dean of Men and upon entering the ministry received his Ordained Minister title from the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Conference.

Rev. Adiska ministered for 47 years in the Allegheny Wesleyan Conference in various churches before retiring. He served many years as the pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Blairsville. He also worked 34 years for the United States Postal Service.

Surviving are four children, The Rev. Stephen R. Adiska (Traci) of Fairview; David B. Adiska (Lori) of Towanda; Cynthia Ewing (Roger) of Clarksburg and Melody Reedy (Thomas) of Raleigh, NC; 14 grandchildren, Robert, Nicholas, Jordan, Dave, Heidi, Joshua, Maura, Mariah, Mason, Brad, Greg, Lisa, Angela and Michael; eight great grandchildren, Sam, Brady, Josh, Beau, Austin, Lainey, Aurora, and Landon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Naomi (Gaul) Adiska on November 26, 2021, a grandson, Douglas Ewing, a granddaughter, Danae Ewing, and brothers, Jerry, Alvin and Ronnie.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 16th, from 12-2 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. A funeral service will take place at 2 PM in the funeral home with his son, Rev. Stephen R. Adiska officiating.

Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Clarksburg, PA.
