Cree E. Hawk, 90, of Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Crystal Waters Personal Care Home in Home.

A son of the late Cree O. and Ethel P. (Heitzenreider) Hawk, he was born May 26, 1934, in Indiana.

A native of Indiana County until Cree enlisting in the United States Air Force, at which time he served in New Mexico, Delaware and Goose Bay Labrador and other locations. Prior to enlisting in the Air Force, he worked for Bethlehem Steel, later rejoining them after his honorable discharge from the service. Cree later moved to California where he worked for various companies until 1973 when he and his wife and children returned to Indiana, where he worked for various companies, including McCreary Tire & Rubber for more than 10 years. He also worked for MAT Oil for more than 10 years prior to retirement. Cree was also an Amsoil Synthetics dealer, selling synthetic oil and other synthetic products in the Indiana area. Amsoil Synthetics was the first company to offer this.

Cree was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 50 years. He was also a member of the Indiana Bow and Gun Club, NRA and many other organizations. He was a strong patriot, and an outdoorsman who was passionate about hunting. His first love was archery. For many years, he held local competitions at his homestead. Cree was avidly involved with precision shooting and reloading of ammunition. He also made and sold arrows to local sporting goods companies under the name of Hawkeye Archery. Cree was an avid reader and very politically active.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley A. (Lawler) Hawk, of Indiana; two children: David Hawk and wife Sherry, of Strasburg; Kimberly Crahen, of Valley, WA; a brother, Ronald Hawk and wife Joyce, of Indiana; a sister, Judy Hawk and Don, of Homer City; six grandchildren: Adam, Sarah, Victoria, Dalton, Emily and Abigail; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Trp. James “Jim” Hawk.

Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 398 Church Street, Indiana, with Pastor J. Patrick Lenox officiating. A luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

The Blairsville Military Honor Guard will be assiting active-duty members of the Air Force with military honors.
