Daniel Robert Shacreaw

Daniel Robert Shacreaw, 35, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his wife, son, and beloved companion. 

The son of Robert Shacreaw and Kimberly (Elliott) Swiencki, he was born on February 3, 1989, in Latrobe, PA.

Dan was a graduate of Blairsville High School, Class of 2007 and worked as a road superintendent and an elected supervisor for seven years for Burrell Township until his retirement in May 2024. 

He was a veteran of the US Army serving eight years with the PA National Guard 252nd Engineer Company in Johnstown, and a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom 2014.  

Dan was a life member of the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Department since February 2005 when he started as a Junior Firefighter, Burrell Twp. Rod and Gun Club, and the Laurel Run Bear Club. 

He was an avid sportsman, especially archery, deer, bear, and spring gobbler. 

Surviving is his wife, Rachel (Hammond) Shacreaw, whom he married on June 3, 2023; his son, Colton Daniel; his father, Robert Shacreaw of Black Lick; his mother, Kimberly (Elliott) Swiencki (Jim) of Crabtree; his sister, Sami Jo Shacreaw of Blairsville; his paternal grandmother, Frances Shacreaw of Indiana; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George A. Shacreaw, maternal grandmother, Margaret (McAdams) Grdgon, and maternal grandfather, Richard Elliott. 

The family will receive First Responders only on Thursday December 26th from 6 to 8 PM. Everyone is welcome on Friday, December 27th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Black Lick Fire Hall, 151 Main St., Black Lick, with Pastor Jack Lucas officiating. 

Military services will be conducted at the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Department, Black Lick by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.
