Dianne Lichtenberg

March 31, 1949 — August 7, 2022

Dianne Lichtenberg, age 73, passed away peacefully in her home in Indiana, PA, in the early morning hours of August 7, 2022.

Dianne was born to Arthur Kahn and Margaret McCaffrey on March 31, 1949, in Ridgewood, Queens, NY. She attended elementary school in Queens, NY, and Suffern High School in Suffern, NY. Dianne went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Huron College in South Dakota, where she met her husband, Bob. They were married on August 19, 1972, and lived in Denver and Broomfield, Co. A transfer within the phone company brought them to Tucson, AZ, where they continued to raise their family. Dianne earned her graduate degree in Business and was an employee of American Airlines until she retired in 2007

Among Dianne’s passions were travel, genealogy, history, and decorating. The holiday season was her favorite time of year. She enjoyed constructing her family’s annual Christmas village, which she proudly named “Dianneville.” Dianne spent the last years of her life (before the Covid-19 pandemic) doing what she loved, traveling in the R.V. and visiting places where her ancestors once inhabited, such as the Gettysburg Battlefield, where her great-great- grandfather fought. Her years spent with Bob as camp hosts in Cascade Creek, Ca, as well as their trips to the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Europe held many fond memories. In 2020, Dianne and Bob relocated to Indiana, Pa. Dianne loved the cooler climate and especially enjoyed gardening, playing Ticket to Ride, walking with her dog Vader, and the outdoors.

Prior to her diagnosis, Dianne was planning a summer trip to Highlands, NJ, where her other great-great-grandfather was the first Fresnel lamp lighthouse keeper in the United States, a history she was very proud of. She had recently taken up crewing for ultra-runners, was gearing up to train for her first 5k, and was looking forward to her grandson’s upcoming nuptials.

Dianne was preceded in death by her mother Margaret “Peggy” Kahn, father Arthur Kahn, brother Arthur, and grandson Dakota Lee. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert Lichtenberg, loving daughters Kristina (Justin) Lee and Annamarie (Scott) Spencer, dear grandchildren Jesse, Jordon, Brandon, Danny, Kayde, and Jake, sister Pamela VonFeldt, sister-in-law Jeanmary (Dennis) Zekus, nieces Melissa, Jessica, Andrea, and Kathryn, nephew Michael, and extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Dianne’s name to Sweet Briar College, a place she believed to be extraordinarily special, with hopes that it would live on in perpetuity.
