Dr. Richard L. Reilly, Sr.

Dr. Richard Leo Reilly, Sr., 88, of Coraopolis, PA (formerly of Blairsville) passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at home.

The son of Dr. Francis St. Clair Reilly and Agnes (Shields) Reilly, he was born May 11, 1936, in Blairsville, PA. 

Dr. Reilly graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1953, St. Vincent College, Class of 1957 and Temple, Class of 1962 receiving his DDS degree. After graduating from Temple, he enlisted in the US Air Force serving two years, 1962-1964, until his honorable discharge as a Captain.

He was a member of the SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church where he was an usher for 30 years and was also a member and past President of the Kiwanis Club, both of Blairsville.

From 1964 until his retirement in 2011, Dr. Reilly practiced dentistry at Blairsville Family Dental. Early in his career, he worked with his father, Dr. Francis Reilly, and finished practicing alongside his brother, Dr. Thomas Reilly.

Surviving are three children, Elizabeth Fazio (Michael) of Murrysville, Dr. Richard L. Reilly, Jr. (Julie) of Edgewood, and Colleen Costa (Brendon) of Moon Township; seven grandchildren, K.C., Nicholas, Aedan, Liam, Bree, Kendall, and Richard L. Reilly, III; his brother, Dr. Thomas Reilly (Maureen) of Lake Norman, NC; two sisters, Mary Agnes Nolan of Locust Grove, VA and Betsy Flanigan (Desmond) of Locust Grove, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 60 years, Patricia (Mills) Reilly on April 28, 2024, a son, Robert Mills Reilly, and two brothers, Francis and John Reilly.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 11 AM until 12:45 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 PM at SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville with Rev. Segundino Laude, celebrant.

Interment will be in the SS Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
