Ernest "Ernie" D. Pesci

Ernest D. Pesci, 79, of Indiana, PA passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.

The son of Dante and Erma (DeWitt) Pesci, he was born March 9, 1945 in Indiana, PA.

Ernie graduated from Blairsville High School, class of 1963, where he lettered in three sports; football, wrestling and track. He graduated from Penn Technical Institute, Pittsburgh, in 1972. Mr. Pesci attended Northern Michigan University and Inter American University while in the Air Force. He also attended Stout State University in Wisconsin and graduated from Indiana University of PA (IUP) in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. While he was at IUP he co-authored an employee hand book for Dedicated Delivery Systems.

Ernie was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he was a member of the Strategic Air Command and also served in the Army Combat Engineers Reserves, Johnstown, PA.

He worked at Fisher Scientific, Indiana, for 26 years as an electronics technician. Mr. Pesci was co-editor of the Fisher Scientific newspaper and was a shop steward.

Ernie was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucerne, member of the Indiana Optimist Club, where he was president of the Indiana Little League Minor System, vice president of the Indiana County Flag Football Association in the early 1970’s, member of Red Barn Sportsmen Club, Indiana Historical Society, 458 Engineer Association and the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Carol A. (Ballirano) Pesci whom he married on September 18, 1971, two sons, Michael E. Pesci (Erin) of Fulton,
MD and Matthew G. Pesci (Robye) of Elk Grove, CA; three grandchildren, Jack, Luke and Mia; a brother, Edward Pesci (Elizabeth) of Greensburg and a sister, Nancy Pesci of Olympia, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucerne, with Rev. Fr. John Pavlic celebrant.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family request memorial donations be made, in memory of Ernest, to the 458 Alumni Memorial Fund, Community Foundation of the Alleghenies, 2216 Franklin St., Suite 400, Johnstown, PA 15901.

Blairsville Military Honor Guard will conduct services at the church.

Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N. 7 th St., Indiana, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
