Floyd James Gray, 76, of Shelocta, passed away on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at his home.
Born on January 30, 1947 in Indiana, Floyd was the son of the late Joseph Clements and Nora Alverda (Helman) Gray.
A 1965 graduate of Marion Center High School, Mr. Gray proudly served his country in the US Army Reserve. He was the husband of Alice A. (Bloom) Gray, whom he married on July 25, 1970. Floyd worked for many years as a printer operator for the Folger Hall at IUP. In his free time, Floyd loved to hunt, shoot pool, garden, play soft ball and Indian ball with his daughters. He mostly enjoyed being with his family and his grandchildren. He also loved the Steelers and any football game being played. Mr. Gray loved to play cards and board games. He and his wife attended the Hilltop Baptist Church in Indiana for many years. Floyd loved music and loved to dance – this trait caught the eye of a young Alice and the couple spent over 50 years together.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Alice A. Gray; two daughters, Christy Lynne Elias and husband, Lance of Ft. Wayne, IN, Kara Anne Fleming and husband, Keith of Indiana; brother, Kenneth Lee Gray of Home; sister, Patricia J. Punchios of DuBois; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Rachael, Ryan, Austin, Jessica, Brianna, Rachel, Michael and 11 great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and two great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Saturday January 20, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7 th St, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at 1PM on Sunday January 21, 2024 with Pastor Jack Lucas officiating. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Floyd’s honor to Cancer Treatment Centers of America – Chicago, 2520 Elisha Ave., Zion, IL 60099.
