George A. Kimmel

September 27, 1954 — May 31, 2024

George Andrew Kimmel, 69, of Spring Church, Kiskiminetas Twp., passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Scenery Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center, Indiana.

The son of John W. Kimmel and Charlotte I. (Bicker) Kimmel, he was born Sept. 27, 1954, in Indiana.

George graduated from Indiana High School, Class of 1973 and continued his education at Penn State University in State College for Environmental Engineering. During his studies, he was also a member of the gymnastics team located on campus, and later graduated in 1977. He then started his own business, Energy Management, which he continued for 24 years in Spring Church. George knew a little bit about everything. He could best be defined as a quiet, strong, intelligent man and an avid outdoorsman, whether that would be building his kids a new summer activity or finding a new project to occupy his time. He was both a Penn State and Steelers fan, liked his beverages cold, and especially enjoyed spending time with family in any way.

Surviving is his loving wife Loretta Kimmel, united in marriage on July 25, 1991; four children: George “Mitchell” Kimmel (Caitlin Hillman), of New Jersey; Brett Kimmel (Wiley), of Apollo; Alesha Kimmel (Brett Dayen), of Quantico, VA; and Brandon Kimmel, of Spring Church; two step-children, Jackie Johnson, of NC, and Dennis Johnson, of Indiana; six siblings: Tom Kimmel (Ellie), of Elizabethtown; Rebecca Eshelman (Bill), of GA; Christine Pulsinelli, of Michigan; Peggy Novello (Ron), of Derry; Karen Kimmel-Orsolics (Eric), of Fla.; Jeffrey Kimmel, of Port Matilda; and four grandchildren, Xavier, Keaira, Isaiah, and Hudson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brianna "Bea" Kimmel; a sister, Charlotte "Cholly" Voytek; and two brothers, Tim Kimmel and Sam Kimmel.

Per George's wishes, services will be private for the family. A Celebration of life will be held in the future. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
