Herbert Lee Marlin

Herbert Lee Marlin, 81, of Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Crystal Waters, Rayne Twp.

The son of the late M. Meade and M. Esther (Williard) Marlin, he was born in Indiana, on August 11, 1938.

Herb was a lifelong resident of Indiana.  He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and served as a lifelong volunteer fireman in the Indiana Fire Association, where he was also a member of the SCUBA Diving Rescue Squad.  He volunteered with the Red Cross, where he regularly was a blood donor. He also was a member of the Penelec Retirees Breakfast Club.

Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and coin collecting.  He loved local sports, listening to IUP Football and Basketball games on the radio, as well as watching all Pittsburgh sports, especially the Penguins who were his favorite.  Above all he loved spending time with his family. He was also a great neighbor and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jane Carolyn (Malkin) Marlin; four children, Cherie L. Marlin of Clymer, Jim Marlin (Edie) of Bentonville, AR, Patty Ruddock of Indiana, and Bonnie Jo Young (Gregg) of Indiana; seven grandchildren, Amanda Heathcote (David), Seth Renninger, Ryan Marlin, Connor Marlin (Lici), Cole Marlin, Cassandra Thompson (Brier), and Megan Ruddock; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ashton, Jordan, and Josephine; two siblings, William Marlin and Bernell Marlin; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Marlin.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 on Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N. 7 ^th St., Indiana, PA where a funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 am.

Masks will not be required and will be left to the discretion of those attending.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Herb’s honor to the Indiana Fire Association or the Red Cross.

Services are being handled by Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker, Indiana.
