Irving George Lindsey, 78, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Hempfield Manor, Greensburg, PA.
He was born on October 7, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA.
Irving was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Class of 1963 and a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War.
Retiring in 2008, he worked for 40 years at Southern California Edison as an electrician.
He was a member and elder of the United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion # 0407 of Blairsville, the Blairsville VFW Post # 5821, Blairsville Military Honor Guard, Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America, and former member of the Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving is his wife, Beverly L. (Gerwig) Lindsey; two children, David Hiltabidle (Katherine) of Blairsville, and Gail D. Moore (Jason) of West Deer Twp.; three grandchildren, Grace Moore, Juliet Moore, and Aiden Moore; two half-sisters, Sandra Ann of Altoona and Carol Hamilton of Staunton, VA; and a half-brother, James L. Shoemaker of Lewisburg.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:30 PM at the United Presbyterian Church, 137 N. Walnut St., Blairsville with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.
Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard at the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville.
