James E. Evans

James Edgar Evans, 75, of Blairsville, passed away on Monday July 18, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital. He was the husband of Carol J. (Strate) Evans, whom he married on June 26, 1965.

Born in New Kensington on November 12, 1946, James was the son of the late Edgar W. and Hazel M. (Smith) Evans.

A 1964 graduate of New Kensington High School, James attended Union Baptist Church in New Kensington. After serving our country in the US Navy for 21 years, including service during the Vietnam War, Mr. Evans retired in 1985. After his military service, James worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for over 20 years until his official retirement in 2006. In his free time, Mr. Evans enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working and loved being outdoors.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carol; two children, Tracy Michel of Seward, James W. Evans and wife, Jamie of Latrobe; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Sandra L. Schafer of New Kensington. James was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter Veronica J. Evans who passed in 2009.

Per his wishes, there will be no service. Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont.
