John V. Petrarca

John Vincent Petrarca, 94, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Loyalhanna Care Center Senior Suites, Latrobe, PA.

The son of John and Jennie (Petrarca) Petrarca, he was born November 25, 1929, and raised in Blairsville, PA.

John graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1947. He worked for Blairsville Machine Products, retiring in 1994 after 46 ½ years.

John loved all sports, but especially enjoyed golf, bowling, and Pirates baseball. He wasn’t very good at golf, but was always able to keep up.

Surviving are three children, Richard L. Petrarca (Gretchen) of Erie, Gary S. Petrarca (Jerri) of Chester, SC, and Susan Lee (Barry) of Blairsville; four stepchildren, Brenda Brasili (Robert) of Latrobe, Donna Jean McCracken of Blairsville, Karen Dorko (David) of Latrobe, and Joyce Sabaline (Tom) of Greensburg; five grandchildren, April Smyth, John, Nick, and Jordan Petrarca, and Amanda Tunink ; 10 great grandchildren; and a former spouse, Shirley (Gindlesberger) Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife, Dorothy (McClelland) Petrarca, five brothers, William, James, Umbert, Raymond, and Arnold, and two sisters, Clara Falcone and Josephine LaVia.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 13th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 1 PM with Rev. Rob Ingmire officiating.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
