Larry W. Barnhart

Larry Barnhart, 70, of Blairsville passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 in the arms of his loving wife, Dolores at their home.

He was the son of Samuel Barnhart and Helen Prosco Barnhart, he was born in Blairsville, PA on their family farm on August 31, 1949.

Larry was a graduate of Derry Area High School, Class of 1968.

He was a proud long-haul truck driver of 50 years who adored the “Lady” of 25 years until she had to be replaced with “Barney’s Baby”.

Larry had a great sense of humor and the biggest heart and would give you the shirt off his back with no questions asked. We are all better for knowing and loving him. Thank you, Larry, for the joy you have brought so many.

Larry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Dolores T. (Sobota) Barnhart whom he married, July 19, 1997; sons, Shawn (Celesta) Barnhart, Erik Barnhart; a daughter, Tara Hays; granddaughters, Brianna (Josh) Cox, Hannah (David) Rocco, Reilly Barnhart, and Hayley Barnhart; great grandsons, Easton, Ethan, and Rhett; brother, Ronald Barnhart; aunt, Dorothy Sharp; uncle, Donnie Barnhart. He is also survived by many special trucking friends and trucking brothers and their families; and not to be forgotten was his feline family, Emma, Thomas, Gibbs, Abby, Charlie, and Willie.

He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Barnhart and a brother, Robert Barnhart.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA 15717. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.

Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
