Larue E. Orr

LaRue E. (Henry) Orr, 90, of Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2020 at her daughter’s home.

She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Irvin) Henry, she was born in Indiana, PA on May 7, 1929.

LaRue was a graduate of Indiana High School, class of 1947.  She worked as a cafeteria cook and supervisor at Eisenhower Elementary School in Indiana.  Before she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Blairsville she had been a lifelong resident of Indiana.

She loved to sew and to read, she enjoyed sitting outside during summer days on the porch swing.  LaRue loved to laugh, loved her family, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.  Above all LaRue had a love for life.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Shirley (Don) of Blairsville; two grandchildren, Michael Shirley (Amanda) of Blairsville, and Steven Shirley (Megan) of Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Makayla, Mason, and Avery; a brother Don (Pat); and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, LaRue was preceded by her loving husband of 72 years, John Orr who passed in 2017; a son, David Orr; a great-grandson Anthony Michael Shirley; and a sister, Ruby Valenti.

LaRue’s family would like to give a special thank you to the VNA of Indiana, for their wonderful care.

The family requests if you would like to make a donation in LaRue’s name, that you do so to the VNA of Indiana.

Due to the health concerns of COVID-19, services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Oakland Cemetery.
