Lawrence Lewis Wallace, 93, of Marion Center (Rayne Twp.), passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at his home.
A son of the late Carl C. and Mary Helen (Shields) Wallace, he was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Washington Twp.
Lawrence graduated from Marion Center Area High School, Class of 1949. Shortly after, he also took a three-year correspondence course from God’s Bible School. The majority of his time was spent toward dairy farming, which he greatly enjoyed. Lawrence had been a member of the Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Church since 1958 and involved himself in many activities such as being a class leader, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and driving the church van.
He is survived by four children, Thomas Wallace and wife Kathy of Marion Center; Beth Wallace of Marion Center; Ruth Sanders and husband Victor of Salem, OH; and Tim Wallace and wife Leslie of Marion Center; 16 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Georgena (Risinger) Wallace on July 11, 2014, a daughter, Jane Ann Burk, and two sisters, Margery Black and Dorothy Martin.
Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23rd at Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1201 Church St, Indiana. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Church, followed by a funeral service with the Rev. Benjamin Blowers officiating. Interment will be private in Washington Church Cemetery.
