Martha Jane (McCormick) Coleman, 86, of Brush Valley Township, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at her home.
The daughter of R. Edward (Ed) “R.E.” and Sara Edna (Auld) McCormick, Jane was born May 31, 1938, in Brush Valley Township.
Jane received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was very proud of her Brush Valley heritage. Jane was a member of the Homer City Presbyterian Church, Three Rivers Quilt Guild, American Quilt Guild, Eastern Star and several other organizations. From 1964 to her retirement in 2021, Jane, along with her husband, ran the family business, Accent Fuels. They also owned and operated Lock-A-Way Storage. Jane was an artist and a master quilter. She was a quilt historian, appraiser and would often judge quilts on local and national levels. Jane loved her Welsh corgi, Maggie.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold R. Coleman; five children: Margaret “Peggy” Altemus and husband, Martin; Mark Coleman; Jeff Coleman and wife, Deborah; Gregory Coleman and wife, Kim; and Melissa Sheperd and husband, Tom; a sister, Doris Harris; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Coleman.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, with Pastor Jim Sunseri officiating. Interment will be in Brush Valley Cemetery.
