Margaret “Peggy” E. (Vargo) Nibert, 99, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Scenery Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Indiana.

Born in Indiana on March 20, 1925, Peggy was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Irene B. (Kane) Vargo. She was the wife of the late Lawrence M. Nibert Jr. whom she married on October 14, 1950.

Peggy led an exemplary life centered around faith and family. She attended St. Bernard School and graduated from Indiana High School. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Bernard #339 as well as St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church. Although Peggy lived most of her life in Indiana, she and her husband had the opportunity to live in various states throughout his working tenure. Peggy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She treasured the time she spent with her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Keith Nibert of Indiana, daughter, Beverly (Don) Gardner of Mount Pleasant, SC, seven grandchildren, Jennifer Bananto, Nathan (Andrea) Bananto, Damian Bananto, K. Michael (Shannon) Nibert, Sarah Jane (Philip) Weil, Adam (Maria) Bettinazzi, Dane Bettinazzi, nine great- Grandchildren, brother, James (Toni) Vargo, three sisters-in-law, Audrey Vargo, Diana Vargo and Mary Francis Bowman and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Lawrence Nibert, daughter, Linda C. Meredith, brother and sister-in-law, Joseph (Betty) Vargo, Jr., sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Harold) Bush, brother, Robert Vargo, brother, John Vargo and sister, Catherine Ann Vargo.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Thomas More University Parish, 1200 Oakland Ave, Indiana. Interment will be private at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th St., Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Peggy to St Bernard School, 300 Clairvaux Dr. Indiana, PA 15701.
