Marvis Grace (Hall) Wallace, 96, of Lucernemines, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 at Lynn Haven Personal Care Home.

The daughter of the late George W. and Kansas (Bard) Hall, Marvis was born in Asheville, NC on March 21, 1928.

She was the wife of the late Spurgeon Lee Wallace, Sr. 

Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker all of her life. Known as the “Mother of the Church,” Marvis was a member for well over 60 years at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church in Indiana, and previous member of St. Paul A.M.E Church in Blairsville. If you knew Marvis, you knew her as a classy, well dressed “hat lady” who loved spending her time shopping for clothes. She was well known for her delicious homemade bread and cookies.

Left to cherish her memory are her four sons: Kenneth Wallace and significant other Deborah, of Pittsburgh; Ronald Wallace and wife Charmaine, of Pittsburgh; Marvin Wallace, of Pittsburgh; Spurgeon Wallace, Jr., of Blairsville; sister-in-law, Clara Hall; four grandchildren: Graylyn Wallace, Derrick Wallace, Donald Smith and Jeffrey Smith; numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marvis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Constance Eggleston; a son, Edward Wallace; three brothers: Hubert Hall, JT “James” Hall, Nathaniel Hall; two sisters: Ernestine Washington and Marry Williams; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Nicholas.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th St., Indiana. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
