Mary Ann Kuhns

Mary Ann Kuhns, 81, of Blairsville, PA (Burrell Twp.) passed on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the Communities of Indian Haven, Indiana, PA.

The daughter of George I. and Anna (Strojan) Kuhns, she was born August 5, 1942, in Indiana, PA.

Mary Ann graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1960.  She went on to complete her nursing degree from the Indiana Hospital School of Nursing.  She began her career at Allegheny General Hospital and finished at The Dialysis Clinic in Indiana.  In her more than 40 years of nursing, she has touched many lives.  Mary Ann continued her passion for helping others by volunteering at IRMC.  She was also involved with The Historical Society of the Blairsville Area, Underground Railroad, Blairsville, and was an instructor at the Indiana YMCA.

Surviving is her brother, Marvin (Carol) Kuhns of Blairsville; two nieces, Andrea (Doug) Odre and Janna (David Shaffer) Kuhns; two great nephews, Braden and Connor Odre; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per Mary Ann’s wishes, there is no visitation.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11 AM in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc. 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, with Pastor Jack Lucas officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.
