Nancy Wasilko Baron

Nancy (Wasilko) Baron, 87, of Blairsville, PA (Burrell Twp.) passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Conemaugh Hospital, Johnstown, PA.

The daughter of Harry and Fannie (Dziendza) Wasilko, she was born May 15, 1937, in Barnesboro, PA.

Nancy graduated from Barnesboro High School, Class of 1955.

She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption, Coral where she was a member of the choir and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Black Lick Fire Department.

Nancy loved to bake cookies and cakes, but especially nut rolls.

Surviving are four children, Joseph M. Baron of Blairsville, Christina Alexander (Doug) of Homer City, Suzanne Campbell (Richard) of

Blairsville, and Elizabeth Baron (Mark Blystone) of Blairsville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her sister, Kaye Sewalish of Mentor, OH; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wasilko of Northern Cambria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Joseph P. Baron on May 7, 2003, six brothers, Charles, John, Paul, George, Michael, and Jay, and five sisters, Ann Mehall, Mary Jaris, Helen Geneva, Magdalene Paronish, and Evelyn Miller.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 14 th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady of Assumption, 555 First St., Coral with Rev. John A. Pavlik, OFM, Cap., celebrant.

Interment will be in the SS Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in Nancy's memory to Our Lady of Assumption, 2434 Neal Road, P.O. Box G, Coral, PA 15731-0250.
