Neal McGinnis, 91, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, in the comfort of his home.
The son of the late Edward and Florence (Delacour) McGinnis, he was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Tidal.
After school, Neal began working alongside his father, running heavy equipment. In 1955, he started work as a laborer with L&D/Dill Construction, until retiring in June 1995. Neal was a member of Local Union 910 in Johnstown for over 40 years. Upon retirement he used his construction skills to help family and friends with various projects.
Neal was a member of Center Presbyterian Church in Creekside, where he had served as an Elder for many years. He also enjoyed playing darts with his fellow church buddies. Neal loved spending time with his family. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter. Neal also spent numerous Thursday evenings in Indiana, bowling as a member of the International Rebel Bowling league for 55 years.
He is survived by a brother, Don McGinnis, of Marion Center; a sister, Linda Askew, of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris (Spence) McGinnis in 2020; two brothers, Lloyd and Vern McGinnis; two sisters, Shirley Frantz and Irene Stile; two nephews, Tommy and Donnie McGinnis.
Public visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana. A private funeral service will be held for the family, with the Rev. Douglas Snyder officiating. Private interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial donations in Neal’s memory be made to, Center Presbyterian Church, 672 Johnston Road, Creekside, Pa 15732.
