Neil H. Gray

Neil Hood Gray, 93, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Fair Oaks Senior Living, Pittsburgh. 

The son of Andrew H. and Susan (Hood) Gray, he was born on January 4, 1931, in Colver, Cambria County, PA.

For 35 years, Neil worked at Torrance State Hospital until his retirement in 1985.

Neil was a former member of the First Baptist Church, VFW Post # 5821, BPOE #406, and Loyal Order of the Moose #187, all of Blairsville.

He was an all-star softball player up to 40 years old and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Blairsville Bobcats.

Surviving is his son, Charles D. Gray (Sharene) of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Alexandra Barry (Andrew) and Hannah Foust (Nicholas); and two great-grandchildren, Elliot Barry and Amelia Foust.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Esther (Nicholson) Gray on August 12, 2022, two brothers, Andrew and James, and three sisters, Janet Gray, Betty Hadley, and Jean Pokorny.

Visitation and funeral services will be private.

Interment will be held in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PA.
