Raymond Elgin Laney, Sr., 82 of Derry, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 in Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe.
He was a son of Earl Laney and Katharina E. (Hass) Laney, he was born in Palmertown, PA on July 28, 1937.
Raymond was a veteran of the United States Air Force and drove truck for Foamex, Derry, for many years.
He loved to travel, cook and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Lou (Palmer) Laney whom he married on April 15,1977; children, Martha Laney of Wenatchee, WA, and Raymond E. Laney (Adriane) of New Derry; stepchildren, Peter Pavlik of Blairsville, Roger Pavlik (Tawnette) of Blairsville and Brenda Butler of Derry; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Laney of Fort Loudon; Butch Laney (Diane) of Black Lick; Charlie Laney (Deborah) of Black Lick; Jim Laney (Alice) of Homer City; sisters, Patty Wilson-Cipolla (Tony) of Naples, FL; Phyllis Pickott (Tom) of Clearwater, FL; Ruth Ann Cordell (Ronnie) of Madisonville, TN; Barb Laney of Homer City, Nancy Skultety (Terry) of Homer City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Margaret (Kline) Laney, brother, Earl Laney, son, Wayne Laney, sisters, Peg Thorn, June Sarra, and Elizabeth Laney and a stepson, Larry Palmer.
Due to the health concerns of COVID-19, services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family
