Roy F. “Cribby” Cribbs, 84, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana, PA.
The son of James M. and Louise (Taubler) Cribbs, he was born May 3, 1935 in Blairsville, PA.
Roy graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1953 and attended Bethel Presbyterian Church, Clyde.
He was a hard worker most of his life, starting while still in school. He would deliver milk before going to school. He retired in 2004 from FMC, Homer City, with more than 40 years of service but returned as a temp for four more years. He also worked at Pyle Appliance, Blairsville, for many years.
Roy liked wood crafting and babysitting his granddaughters. He was a “Gentle Giant” who never hesitated to help others. He was always giving money to strangers when he was out and about, especially those with young children. An angel on earth, now one in heaven.
He was a person who put his family first. Roy married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Joanne, on June 16, 1955. Together, they raised three children, Cindy Coleman (Mark) of Brush Valley; Randy Cribbs (Carmen) of Virginia Beach, VA and Heather Beard (Paul) of Delmont.
Roy is survived by his children and his two granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Courtney Kopanke (Mike) of New Orleans, LA and Alexis Beard of Delmont and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joanne (Powell) Cribbs on September 9, 2016, two brothers, Robert and Joseph and a sister, Gerri Mrenko.
The family would like to thank all his “girls” at St. Andrew’s Village for all the extra care and concern you showed him these last two years. From the hugs, kisses and late-night talks to the banana splits, you made an impact on him. He loved you all, as we do.
Due to the health concerns of the COVID-19 virus, services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date for family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to your favorite children’s charity, in memory of Roy Cribbs.
