Sara (Blue) Wine

Sara (Blue) Wine, 101, passed away peacefully in Indiana, on June 13, 2024.

Born July 13, 1922, she lived a remarkable life full of joy, love and independence.

Sara maintained an incredible spirit and zest for life. She lived independently until her 101st birthday when she felt it might be time for a little help by relocating to St. Andrew’s Village. Despite the new location, Indiana’s longtime bridge expert continued to play the game she loved. Up to her early nineties, Sara enjoyed golf and swimming, staying active with the Calvary Presbyterian Church, and remaining healthy alongside her sister and best friend Jane, who passed away in 2021 at 96.

Sara was a true world traveler by land, air and sea, including voyages on the Queen Elizabeth II. Professionally, Sara worked for decades with J.C. Penney Corporation as a children’s department buyer, in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Sara is survived by a son, Clark “Thomas” Myers, of Roanoke, VA; a granddaughter, Megan Summers, of Lawrenceville, NJ; and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Blue Summers. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and neighbor who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Laura (Brown) Blue, and a sister, Laurabel Jane Blue.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. on what would have been Sara’s 102nd birthday, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. Andrew’s Village, 1155 Indian Springs Road, Indiana. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery alongside her parents and sister. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
