Stanley F. Sulkosky, Sr.

Stanley Frank Sulkosky, Sr., 97, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, in St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana, PA.

The son of Stanley Z. and Mary M. (Pialosky) Sulkosky, he was born July 1, 1927, in Derry Twp., PA. 

Mr. Sulkosky was a US Army Veteran serving in World War II.

A lifelong resident of Derry Twp., he worked on his own farm for many years in addition to working 30 years for Latrobe Construction until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of the SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, the Slovak Club, Loyalhanna, and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post #515, Latrobe.

Mr. Sulkosky loved spending time with his family and would often lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Surviving are four children, Richard Sulkosky (Carol) of Derry, Victoria Rager (Walt) of Blairsville, William Sulkosky (Sharon) of Canonsburg, and Robert Sulkosky (Michele) of Derry; 10 grandchildren, Tricia, Mike, Mary, Wendy, Jen, Melissa, Tim, Becky, Erin, and Erica; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two daughters-in-law, Jane Sulkosky of Latrobe and Kathy Sulkosky of Latrobe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary A. (Reffo) Sulkosky on March 4, 2005, three sons, Stanley F. Sulkosky, Jr., Michael E. Sulkosky, and Thomas A. Sulkosky, his great granddaughter, Bethany Morris, and all of his brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville where a wake service will be held at 6:30 PM. Prayers of Transfer will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 28th at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville with Rev. Segundino Laude, celebrant.

Interment will be in the SS Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.

Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard at the cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Andrew’s Village for their kindness and care of their father the past five months.
