Susan I. Cunkelman

Susan Irene (Dunlap) Cunkelman, 88, of Homer City, PA passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA.

The daughter of Elmer and Emma (Laughlin) Dunlap, she was born October 2, 1930 in Blairsville, PA.

Mrs. Cunkelman was a member of the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, Kent, were she was a ruling elder and served as clerk of session for many years and a member of Blairsville Chapter #166, Order of the Eastern Star.

She graduated from Blairsville High School, Class of 1948.  She prepared food for Whitey’s Lunch Stand and was a bookkeeper for their family owned business, Truck Parts Unlimited.

She was a terrific pie baker.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Oliver Albert Cunkelman whom she married December 15, 1950; four children, Donna Rich of Palm City, FL; David O. Cunkelman (Teresa) of Murrysville; Debora Stupic (Raymond) of Penn Run and Darrell Cunkelman (Kimberlee) of Blairsville; five grandchildren, Meghan Hodde, Ty Hoza, Lauren Cunkelman, John Stupic and Clayton Stupic and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Craig Rich, two brothers, D. Alex Dunlap and Donald Dunlap and a sister, Jennie Kellerman.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, Kent, PA with Rev. Richard Cassel officiating.

Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
