William L. Kenney

William Lawrence Kenney, 88, of Brenizer, PA passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, PA.

The son of Harry N. and Ruth A. (Larkin) Kenney, he was born October 8, 1935, in Crabtree, PA.

William was a veteran of the US Army.  He worked at Torrance State Hospital and owned Kenney’s Grill in Blairsville from 1975-1990.

He was a member of SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, BPOE #406, VFW Post # 5821, FOE # 1488, all of Blairsville and the American Legion Post # 324 in Derry.

Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Marie E. (Sabo) Kenney whom he married on April 14, 1956; two sons, Dr. W. Larry Kenney (Patricia) of State College, and David A. Kenney (Shelly) of Brookfield, WI.; five grandchildren, Casey, Matt, Colleen, Alex, and Logan; one great grandchild, Adrian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers, Harry, James, John, Thomas, George, Richard, Patrick, Natale, and Alfred, and two sisters, Mary C. Dunlap and Ruth G. Huber.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 7th from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a wake service will be held at 6:30 PM.  Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9: 30 AM on Monday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at the SS Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 155 N. Brady St., Blairsville with Rev. Segundino Laude, celebrant.

Interment will be in the SS Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.

Military services will be conducted at SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.
